An inspiring journey built on trust and mentorship

From the first garage he built at age 17 to overseeing a network of 17 businesses, Daniel Fortin has embodied perseverance and entrepreneurial boldness. Today, he skillfully leads his group of shops, which includes 10 Fix Auto locations, 4 ProColor collision centres, two Bumper to Bumper stores, and a windshield repair centre.

With 30 years of experience in the collision repair industry, Daniel Fortin is a dynamic and inspiring figure. His passion for automobiles emerged early: at just 17, after completing his studies in electrical work, he built a garage at his parents’ home to repair and resell damaged vehicles.

Gambling on a first shop

In 1995, at 25 years old, he took a decisive step in his career by purchasing a body shop with his father. A memorable meeting with a branch manager at Caisse Desjardins, who granted them a loan, shaped one of his core values: earning someone’s trust can change a life.

The recipe for his success

Daniel Fortin emphasizes the importance of treating every customer as if they were part of his family. He adds: “I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a high-performing and dedicated team, including my son Alexandre, 27, who is part of it. After proving himself in one of our locations, he is now in charge of immigration to address the company’s main challenge: finding skilled workers. My assistant Jozée Poulin (co-owner of Fix Auto Charlesbourg Sud) has been with us for 17 years.”

He is also very proud of his 17 business partners, including one who is only 21 and another who is 26, whom he is helping fulfill their dream of owning their own shop. “These partnerships bring new ideas and strengthen the entire group,” he concludes. Daniel Fortin has brought national visibility to the Fix Auto network.

A passion shared with his son

Beyond business, Daniel shares another passion with his son Alexandre: motorsports. Father and son have experienced many successes in the field. Alexandre began karting at age six. Last year, he won the Super Challenge Series championship.

Daniel himself competed in the Nissan Sentra Cup, earning several podium finishes before dedicating himself fully to supporting his son.

His advice to young entrepreneurs is clear: “Believe in yourself, believe in your values, even without money. Stand out, prove yourself, and someone will notice your potential.” A powerful message that reflects his own success and his commitment to supporting the next generation.
