AutoCanada sells its only U.S. location and bets everything on Canada

The group refocuses capital on its 64 Canadian dealerships and 30+ collision centres.

AutoCanada Inc. has announced the sale of its sole American location, the Lincolnwood, Illinois, store, which generated approximately $79.4 million in revenue and $5.8 million in net income for the 12 months ended March 31, 2026. Net proceeds from the transaction will be used to reduce the balance of the company’s revolving credit facility.

A clear strategic pivot to the domestic market

In the press release accompanying the announcement, CEO and interim CFO Samuel Cochrane said the sale reflects a decision to focus capital and management attention on “our core Canadian dealership and collision operations.” Financial markets responded positively: AutoCanada shares rose 1.4% to $22.07 after the disclosure, up from $21.76 at the prior close.

An increasingly dominant MSO consolidator in Canada

The divestiture follows two major acquisitions AutoCanada completed in just 72 hours in early June: Contemporary Coachworks in Calgary and Mascarin Collision Centre in Thunder Bay. The group now operates more than 30 collision centres across Canada and 64 franchised dealerships spanning 23 brands in eight provinces. AutoCanada is firmly positioning itself as the reference consolidator in Canada’s automotive industry.
