EV Growth in Canada: Aftermarket Impact Still Minimal

In 2024, Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) made up about 12% of new vehicle sales in Canada, outperforming the U.S. (8%) but still behind the 20% global average.

Yet BEVs account for less than 2% of Vehicles in Operation (VIO) in Canada—and under 1% of Aftermarket Vehicles, those aged 4+ years that drive 95% of aftermarket product demand (excluding tires and accessories).

So far, BEVs have replaced only about 1% of ICE product volume. For shop owners, the real shift in parts and service demand is still years away.
