Solera plugs into China’s automakers

Its deal with Changan is about securing reliable access to the technical data needed to repair Chinese vehicles

Solera, a specialist in automotive data and professional software, has signed an agreement with Chinese automaker Changan, announced at the Paris Motor Show. The goal: to become the go-to partner for Chinese brands as they expand globally.

In practical terms, the deal is intended to provide professionals with reliable, properly governed access to Changan’s technical data, which is essential for identifying parts, assessing damage and protecting onboard safety systems during repairs. For Solera, the edge lies in how that data is governed, supplied directly without intermediaries and sourced straight from the automaker, at a time when artificial intelligence is playing a growing role in claims estimating.

Having operated in China for a decade, Solera plans to replicate the model elsewhere, with Latin America high on the list. The agreement also aligns with broader goals for road safety and automotive circularity.
