Stryten Energy acquires C&D Trojan to create a global battery storage powerhouse for automotive and industrial markets

The transaction consolidates 15 U.S. manufacturing plants and significantly expands the battery portfolio for hybrid vehicles, industrial equipment and critical infrastructure.

Stryten Energy LLC and C&D Technologies / Trojan Battery Company have announced the signing of a definitive agreement for Stryten to acquire C&D Trojan, creating a scaled platform for global battery manufacturing and comprehensive energy storage solutions. Expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, the transaction will result in a combined organization operating 15 battery manufacturing and component facilities across the United States, supported by 3,700 employees.

An expanded battery portfolio for the Canadian automotive industry

The combined entity will offer one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of lead and lithium-based energy storage technologies, covering automotive, heavy-duty truck, marine, low-speed electric vehicle, and recreational vehicle applications. Stryten also plans to expand its Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand from hybrid vehicles and start-stop technologies — a fast-growing segment in the Canadian market.

Concrete implications for Canadian professionals

For Canadian distributors and repair shops working with Trojan or C&D Technologies batteries, this consolidation signals continuity and expanded access to new technologies. A reinforced North American supply chain — anchored by 15 U.S. plants, plus operations in Mexico and China — strengthens the combined organization’s ability to respond quickly to Canadian market demand for replacement, traction, and energy-storage batteries.
