With nearly 20 years of experience at Leader Auto Ressources (LAR) and a busy career in the collision repair industry, Richard Villeneuve has established himself as a key figure in the automotive industry. He has contributed to the development of numerous networks and has actively participated in the professionalization of the bodyman profession. 

Highly valued expertise 

Richard Villeneuve began his career in 1975 at an Ottawa dealership before being recruited by the Myers Group in 1981, where he worked until 1993. He then joined LCI, contributing to the development of the automotive paint network across Canada. His expertise led him to collaborate with Benson to structure a paint and body shop network, particularly in Québec and Ontario. 

In 2005, Richard joined LAR – a purchasing group for dealerships – with the mission of setting up a team dedicated to helping bodymen. One of his mentors, Marc Racine, LAR’s Director of Sales, describes him as “a unifier, a man determined to elevate the collision industry and support professionals in the sector.” 

His work was not limited to Canada; he was also involved in LAR’s expansion into the United States. Today, Richard works as a consultant when the company needs him. In the long term, he is also training the person who will eventually take his place. 

Modernising and enhancing the automotive bodyman profession 

Throughout his career, Richard Villeneuve has worked to transform the image of the bodyman. Too long perceived as a simple manual profession, body work now benefits from advanced training and state-of-the-art equipment that repositions it as an essential and respected profession in society.  

Despite a busy schedule, Richard schedules quality time with his wife – especially when they hunt and fish together. 

Because of his commitment, availability and generosity, Richard Villeneuve is an inspiring figure for all bodymen.
