AIA Canada: The Transition Between Jean-François Champagne and Emily Chung Is Now Complete

After Nearly a Decade at the Helm, Jean-François Champagne Concluded His Mandate at the End of June 2026

The Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) reached an important milestone in its recent history. Emily Chung, former owner of the AutoNiche repair shop in Markham, Ontario, had officially served as President and CEO since January 2, 2026. Jean-François (JF) Champagne, who had led the association since 2015, concluded his mandate at the end of June 2026 after guiding the organization through a period of significant transformation and growth.

A Successor with Hands-On Industry Experience

A Red Seal-certified Automotive Service Technician (310S), Emily Chung brought a unique perspective to the role as a former repair shop owner who had firsthand experience with the day-to-day challenges faced by the professionals she now represents. She also taught at the Automotive Business School of Canada at Georgian College and served on the Board of Directors of the Aftermarket Retailers of Ontario.

A Smooth and Well-Planned Transition

Until the end of his mandate, Jean-François (JF) Champagne remained actively involved to ensure a seamless transition. For the thousands of Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) members—including repair shops, distributors, and manufacturers across the country—the leadership transition marked the beginning of a new chapter for one of the most influential organizations in Canada’s automotive aftermarket.
