Spills can happen in many situations in the automotive service sector, for example:
- When refuelling, handling, using or transferring various hazardous liquid products.
- During maintenance of components containing gasoline, diesel, or used oil such as fuel tanks, pump parts, or fuel lines on a vehicle.
- In case of a failure of storage containers, like 4‑liter cans, 20‑liter pails, drums, bulk tanks, and pressurized gas containers.
Environmental contamination risk
Leaks or spills of different products can contaminate soil and groundwater. If a spill occurs into the environment, contact the appropriate environmental emergency number regardless of the quantity spilled. In the event of a spill during a delivery or transport of a dangerous material, a report to CANUTEC may be required.
