They already hold nearly 10 percent of the market, a sign of what may be coming to Canada
China’s push into the European car market is very real. According to data compiled by Inovev, 50 Chinese brands are now sold across the continent and moved 814,399 vehicles in the first seven months of 2026, for a 9.7 percent market share across the continent (EU30).
The volume remains highly concentrated, however: BYD and MG alone account for 51 percent of sales, with more than 200,000 units each. Jaecoo, Omoda and Leapmotor follow, well behind. Of the 50 brands, barely 24 surpassed the 1,000-car mark.
The United Kingdom is by far the main destination, with more than 212,000 vehicles, while Norway has the highest market share at 16.6 percent. This trend hints at what lies ahead for Canada, as brands like Geely prepare to arrive.
