Contrary to rumors, Ford is not abandoning hybrid technology. The American automaker is actually intensifying its investments in this segment. The company plans to offer hybrid powertrains across its entire North American lineup by the end of the decade.

This strategy represents a significant shift: Ford is partially stepping back from pure electric ambitions in favor of hybrids. The F-150 Lightning, initially all-electric, will be replaced by an extended-range system where a combustion engine recharges the battery.

While the Ford Escape Hybrid will be discontinued after 2026, this doesn’t signal the abandonment of hybrid technology, but rather the replacement of the model itself with a newer, more modern electrified vehicle. Ford is adapting to North American market demand, which currently favors hybrid vehicles over fully electric models.

This pivot reflects consumer preferences and provides a practical bridge between traditional combustion engines and full electrification.
