Genuine Parts Company (GPC) is taking another major step in its transformation, announcing the leadership teams that will guide its automotive and industrial businesses following their planned separation in the first quarter of 2027.
The automotive business will retain the Genuine Parts Company name, while the industrial business will operate independently as Motion. Court Carruthers has been appointed CEO-elect of GPC and will officially assume the role once the separation is completed. Alain Masse will continue as President, North America Automotive.
For the automotive aftermarket, this is a development worth watching. GPC operates an extensive international network of parts distribution and value-added services, including a significant presence in North America.
Creating a company focused entirely on automotive could enable GPC to sharpen its strategy around distribution, digital transformation, supply-chain optimization and the evolving needs of professional customers.
It is a corporate restructuring that could ultimately have an impact well beyond the executive suite.
