The Toyota Group isn’t number one for nothing. They understand what people want and implement it in their products. At the Montreal Auto Show, Toyota is presenting three models.

The New RAV4

In its Canadian premiere, Toyota unveils the all-new RAV4. As one of the world’s best-selling vehicles, the RAV4 arrives for its 6th fully redesigned generation, offering a wide range of versions for everyone.
Still built on the TNGA platform, this new compact SUV will be available in North America only in hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The regular hybrid versions continue to use the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, but their power increases from 219 hp to 236 hp, while highway fuel consumption drops from 5.8 to 5.1 L/100 km.
As for the Prime version, it receives a new 22.7 kWh battery instead of 18.1 kWh, increasing its electric range from 68 km to 80 km. The RAV4 Prime also gets a power boost, rising from 302 hp to 324 hp.

The Return of the C-HR

Remember the C-HR, the small front-wheel-drive subcompact SUV? It’s back, this time as a 100% electric vehicle. It will be the most affordable EV in Toyota’s lineup.
Two powertrains will be offered. The first is front-wheel drive producing 221 hp, and the second is all-wheel drive developing 338 hp, allowing 0–100 km/h in about 5 seconds.
Regarding the battery, only one option will be available: a 77.4 kWh pack, giving the front-wheel-drive version a range of roughly 500 km per charge. Charging specifications haven’t been released yet, but the C-HR comes with a NACS port.

On the Lexus Side

Another Canadian first is presented by Lexus: the new ES. This sedan, already a big hit in the U.S., will be offered in both electric and hybrid versions. For now, all we know is that the base version will be the ES350h. It will be powered by the same 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine as the RAV4 hybrid, producing 243 hp, and will be available in either two- or four-wheel drive. More details will be released throughout the year.
