PaintGo: A New Painting Technology Arrives in Quebec

Expertise remains at the heart of collision repair work, even as tools evolve to better support teams. In response to health and safety concerns, inconsistent quality, slow processes, and labour shortages, technological solutions like PaintGo are emerging to support shop operations.

PaintGo is an automotive painting robot capable of applying paint evenly directly inside the spray booth, supporting the work of painters. The company is launching its Canadian operations with its first installation in Quebec at Fix Auto Dorval, as well as at two other facilities: Fix Auto Décarie and Fix Auto Trois-Rivières

A Technology Already Proven Internationally

Developed by WUHAN ONEW TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., PaintGo designs robotic systems that integrate machine vision and intelligent software. This technology is already in use across Asia, Europe, and the Americas in various automotive paint centres and collision repair facilities.

A Solution Adapted to the Workshop Environment

Using visual recognition, the system identifies the surfaces to be painted and automatically plans the spray path to ensure consistent application. This approach provides:

  • Uniform and repeatable application
  • More precise use of materials
  • Seamless integration into existing workflows

The robot can be installed in current paint booths without major modifications. A demonstration video is available via QR code.

A Tool that Complements Skilled Craftsmanship

PaintGo supports painters rather than replacing them: adjustments, finishing work, and quality control remain the responsibility of the team. By delegating certain application steps, the robot frees up time for preparation, refinishing adjustments, or managing multiple vehicles simultaneously, while also helping protect employees’ health.

In some cases, this organization allows shops to process more vehicles in a single day without increasing pressure on teams.

“Like any new technology, it requires an adjustment period, but we quickly see the potential. The robot allows us to move several vehicles forward at the same time. We’re already using it several times a day, and the team response has been very positive,” explains Karim Zaidane, owner of Fix Auto Dorval.

With these first installations, PaintGo is beginning its rollout on the Canadian market. The coming months will provide insight into its gradual integration into daily workshop operations.
