Magna Rebounds: Near a Two-Year High

By Gideon Scanlon

Magna International shares climbed to a near two-year high in December 2025, closing at $76.22. This resurgence follows robust third-quarter results characterized by stronger free cash flow and reduced capital spending, which boosted debt reduction and share buybacks. CEO Swamy Kotagiri praised the company’s resilience amid “dynamic operating conditions.”

Despite this recovery, the stock remains significantly below its all-time high of $121.04 reached in May 2021. Magna continues to navigate headwinds, including lower vehicle production in North America and Europe, rising tariff costs, and the complex transition toward electric vehicles. Furthermore, the company remains under public scrutiny following criminal charges laid against founder Frank Stronach in 2024, allegations he has denied. As Magna balances internal efficiencies with global sector shifts, investors are closely watching its ability to maintain this momentum in a volatile market.
