The Society of Collision Repair Specialists officially structures ADAS calibration as an autonomous professional discipline across North America.
The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS), one of North America’s leading collision repair industry organizations, has officially launched an ADAS division along with a dedicated governing council for this discipline. The move marks a significant step in recognizing advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) calibration as a distinct specialty with its own professional standards — rather than simply an add-on to traditional repair procedures.
A response to the explosive growth in calibrations
The context is clear: according to CCC Intelligent Solutions’ Crash Course 2026 report, ADAS calibrations accounted for less than 1% of repairable appraisals in 2017 and now exceed 23% in 2025, reaching as high as 33% in repairs performed under insurer direct repair programs. By establishing this division, the SCRS acknowledges that calibration requires its own governance, training framework and professional standards.
For Canadian shops: a signal worth taking seriously
The SCRS move fits within a broader industry shift that already includes the I-CAR Canada–NAPA partnership and the recently launched Revv training platform. For Canadian collision shops, investing now in ADAS training and calibration equipment is no longer optional. Shops that build certified expertise around this competency are positioning themselves as the go-to specialists in their regional markets.
