The repair market rebound favours some channels over others

After the 2020 shock, the Do-It-For-Me market bounces back, but not every distribution channel shares in the gains

The U.S. Do-It-For-Me (DIFM) market for cars and light trucks rebounded by more than 23 billion US dollars (roughly 32 billion Canadian dollars) between 2021 and 2025, following the historic 2020 collapse tied to COVID-19, according to Lang Marketing.

But the five major distribution channels did not all share equally in the recovery. Three grew their market share, while two saw it shrink. The Integrated channel is the big winner: its volume jumped nearly 40 percent, driven by retail parts stores’ commercial sales, and it alone accounts for 44 percent of the growth.

The Import channel posted the strongest annual growth, thanks to parts for foreign-nameplate vehicles. By contrast, the Traditional and Specialized channels lost ground.
