New report reveals critical gaps in empathy, resilience, and adaptability
A new SuccessFinder report reveals that effective leadership traits are rapidly changing, and many current leaders are not ready.
Based on assessments of over 17,000 leaders, the report identifies three major trends: technological acceleration, economic uncertainty, and human-centric leadership.
The numbers are alarming: only 26% of leaders score high in flexibility, and just 18% in stress tolerance. Yet these skills are essential for navigating market instability and responsible AI adoption.
“Current leaders excel at collaboration and analytical thinking but struggle with empathy, adaptability, and resilience,” explains Carolyn Hass, Chief Operating Officer at SuccessFinder.
Employees are demanding more purpose, inclusion, and wellbeing at work. Empathy and psychological safety are becoming strategic performance drivers, not just soft skills.
Organizations must invest in tailored development plans to bridge these gaps. As generative AI reshapes roles, digital skills alone are insufficient—leaders must interpret data responsibly, foster innovation, and build trust.
Companies investing in measurable behavioral development will be better positioned to navigate uncertainty and improve productivity and engagement.
