TotalEnergies and Veolia join forces for the energy transition and the circular economy

On October 6, 2025, TotalEnergies and Veolia signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation in energy transition and circular economy initiatives. The two companies will combine their expertise to cut methane emissions, improve water management, and recover resources from waste. Veolia will deploy TotalEnergies’ AUSEA drone technology to measure and capture up to 80 % of methane emissions by 2032. Veolia will also support TotalEnergies in its goal to reduce freshwater withdrawals by 20 % by 2030 for sites in water-stressed areas. Meanwhile, both firms plan to expand low-carbon desalination projects and develop technologies for recovering strategic materials, such as rare earth elements, from end-of-life products.
