A new national survey finds younger Canadian workers are prioritizing purpose over pay.
According to research conducted in February for First Onsite Property Restoration, 68% of millennials and 65% of Gen Z say working in an industry that helps people is important, compared with 61% overall.
More than half want an employer focused on sustainability, but younger Canadians also feel more anxious about job security. About 43% of Gen Z respondents worry global instability could impact their careers.
Nearly one in three Gen Z workers plan to change jobs in 2025, far higher than older generations.
“Purpose and wellbeing must be embedded into every part of the workplace — not as perks, but as core responsibilities,” said Leah Pearson, Senior Director of Human Resources at First Onsite.
