The 2026 model year of Toyota’s popular three-row SUV is now arriving at dealerships across Canada.
Introduced in 2020, the fourth generation of the Highlander continues to offer an elegant and sleek design. Its body shape has been engineered for maximum aerodynamics, resulting in a more fuel-efficient and quieter ride.
A Cabin Focused on Comfort and Technology
Inside, the Highlander continues to offer a cabin designed with passenger comfort in mind—especially in the Limited trim. XLE versions feature an 8-inch central screen, while the XSE, Limited, and Platinum trims come equipped with a large 12.3-inch display.
All screens use the Toyota Multimedia System, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly. They can also be paired with an 11-speaker JBL audio system delivering 1,200 watts in the higher trims.
Cargo space remains impressive, offering up to 2,387 liters of total capacity, while accommodating up to eight passengers.
Two Powertrains: Performance and Efficiency
Two powertrain options are still available:
- A 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder producing 265 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque
- A 2.5L hybrid four-cylinder delivering 243 horsepower
The turbocharged engine allows the Highlander to tow up to 5,000 lb (2,268 kg) with an average highway fuel consumption of 8.4 L/100 km.
The hybrid version can tow up to 3,500 lb (1,588 kg) and offers an impressive 6.8 L/100 km highway fuel economy.
All Highlander models now come standard with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Simplified Lineup for 2026
For 2026, Toyota has revised the lineup, discontinuing the LE Hybrid and XLE Nightshade Edition trims.
Despite these changes, the Highlander remains available in seven versions—four gasoline and three hybrid models.
The 2026 Toyota Highlander starts at $51,825.
