Forget flashy sports cars! Canadian drivers remain remarkably practical in 2025. According to DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, over one-third of Canadians (36.1%) place an SUV at the top of their automotive wish list, crushing exotic sports cars which languish at just 12.6%.

Sedans hold second place with 23%, while pickup trucks capture 14.2% of votes. This trend confirms that versatility and practicality triumph decisively over speed and prestige.

Colour choices mirror this conservatism: black dominates at 27.6%, followed by blue (14.9%) and white (14.3%). Only red (12.1%) injects a splash of boldness into this subdued palette.

“Canadians wished for a black SUV last year, and they haven’t changed their minds for 2025,” notes Andrew King, managing partner at DAC. A remarkable consistency that paints the portrait of a resolutely practical automotive nation.
