Beyond the Bench: ACX’s Investment in Apprentices, Leaders, and the Future of Quality Repair

The collision repair industry is rapidly changing due to electric vehicles, complex Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), and evolving OEM standards. ACX, formerly AutoCanada Collision Centres, is actively building the future by investing heavily in its people. ACX’s recent rebrand reflects a commitment to technical excellence, continuous training, and creating a supportive environment. With 32 rooftops coast-to-coast across Canada and 34 unique OEM certifications, the group focuses on scaling quality through expertise, empathy, and investment in its teams.

For ACX, being the best requires the best people, and that expertise is built on rigorous, proactive training. ACX champions growth through its National Apprenticeship Program, providing industry-leading education and mentorship in seven provinces. To remove financial barriers, ACX supplies a complete $10,000 MAC Tool Box at the start of the program, which apprentices keep upon completion. Learning is accelerated through continuous proprietary OEM training and dedicated BASF Refinish Training. This commitment to developing new talent is demonstrated by ACX being a proud sponsor of Skills Canada, where its apprentices consistently bring home medals.

The world of collision repair demands precision and cutting-edge knowledge. ACX technicians receive intensive, hands-on training on state-of-the-art equipment like the Car-O-Liner Speed 3T Plus unibody bench. ACX is pioneering advancements, becoming the FIRST Rivian calibration and diagnostic centre in Canada. Furthermore, ACX is deeply committed to continuous industry engagement, sending its teams to the Rivian Collision and Service Summit and multiple other OEM conferences to stay ahead of the EV curve and evolving repair standards. Crucially, safe repairs are ensured by requiring essential training, such as Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certification.

Excellence extends beyond technical skill into smart operations. ACX ensures organizational alignment by completing strategic planning prior to each year, focusing all teams on high-quality initiatives. This proactive process is crucial, allowing the organization to consistently meet evolving customer expectations and OEM requirements across all 32 rooftops. For process and leadership excellence, ACX teams complete leadership courses and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training to optimize efficiency and reduce waste in daily workflows. Internal teamwork and communication are further enhanced through Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) training, empowering people to better understand motivations and work more effectively with their colleagues, fostering a truly collaborative environment.

The ACX team is approachable and experienced—confident in its expertise, yet always willing to be helpful and kind. The organization is shaping the future by investing in the people who do the work every day. Whether a talented individual is seeking a rewarding career or an insurance provider is looking for a partner committed to excellence and safety, the ACX network is ready to deliver.
